Since I'm in the process of completely re-equipping after a 2 year hiatus in playing, I've been thinking a lot about gear... And trying to create a live solution close to what I'd done in the studio for the last 2 TOT albums.
In the studio, I took a cue from the guitarists, and ran two separate signal chains to two separate tracks in protools. Each EQ'd differently, one with varying levels of overdrive.
The "Blend" and "FX Mix" knobs on most pedals and heads just give me a mix of the effect serially arranged with the rest of the signal chains. The only head I know of that has a parallel loop is the Aguilar DB750/751. Those who can afford an Axe FX unit often run two different preamp models in parallel to the same end...
The Aggie can't be the only head with this option.... One question I've had is whether the Ampeg SVT 7-Pro, with the FX mix dial set at 50%, then gives me a parallel signal then going back into the chain.
What other amps or Preamps have this feature beyond the Aguilar units? Is there a Radial or similar outboard unit that can take the dry signal from my bass or head (post EQ) and split it to 2 different loops and then bring them together again in parallel?
