Amps

Its been a very long time since I played bass..after having a look around the net,,its amazing how much has changed. These tiny bass heads,weighing less than 2lbs able to put out so much power,,amazing. I remember having a Peavey Firebass 700,,thing almost gave me a hernia. Anyway,,I am interested in getting a bass and amp,,one of these tiny ones. I will only need a practice amp for the house..if I do play anywhere,it will be at an open mic,and they will have equipment to play through. So,,any suggestions on basses and amps would be appreciated..not crazy priced stuff,,just something that`s pretty good.

Any of the fender rumble series Combo amps are good but if you think you might want to jam with friends eventually I would suggest going with the Fender Rumble 100 would be fine for in the house and still be able to keep up with a drummer and guitars.

Ibanez SR basses are extremely well designed ergonomically with slim necks, lightweight bodies and good active electronics and pickups. The SR range starts at very reasonable prices and goes right up to high spec higher cost basses. I own dozens of basses and the SR is the easiest to play in my opinion. The only caveat here is as the necks are very slim some players with big hands and sausage fingers find the neck string spacing difficult.
