Double Bass An adjustable bridge

You could also try emailing Bob Gollihur, I think he has a How-to sheet on installing adjusters.

We have a sheet for fitting a bridge, but we don't have a sheet for installing adjusters. However, the instructions for the Fishman Full Circle pickup have some nice tips for installation into a fixed bridge. You can probably find them online.

How difficult is this procedure in the grand scheme? (Just curious) The reason I ask is that I've had it done a few different times by several different people, and the only ones that really worked smoothly and well are the ones on my current bass, on which Arnold did the job.

Looks to me like you answered your own question.

Hi - I wanted to check we are talking about the same thing here:-

I saw a bass recently that had had the bridge sawn in half horizontally, some wood planed off at the cut and then two machine screw rods set into the bottom of the bridge, thumbwheels fitted, then the top of the bridge drilled so the top of the screwed rods were a sliding fit in the top half of the bridge.

The bridge is then adjustable for height so the action can be "fine tuned".

Is this what you are talking about?

Do you know where I can get the thumbwheels and screwed rods?

Regards,

Geoff

Bob Gollihur sells em, I believe Upton bass does too. Ken Smith might also sell them...but I'm not sure

Yes, we're talking about essentially the same thing. The ones we're familiar with are one piece; the wheel and post are of the same piece of aluminum, and one side of the post is threaded and the other isn't. I've not seen two-piece ones, but I imagine they're out there.
