Many years ago when I spent time looking at EUBs on the internet because I could not afford them. I came across an EUB which was almost cylindrical and iirc the machine heads were hidden from view at the top which gave it all a very minimalist vibe. Does this ring any bells for anyone? What was it?

Double Bass An almost cylindrical EUB?

No, it had no body to speak of, just straight down all the way.

Most unique feature in the design is the strings wrapping around and anchoring the back of the body, some where in the middle. You notice that they didn't show the back of the bass in the photos... That really makes the bass growl and sustain like a fretless electric with ultra light and rubbery strings, different than any other. That feature also might present problems with tuning stability. Honestly, for all the trouble of building a custom instrument and dealing with trial and error process, a NS bass will prolly be superior in all other aspects of design, fingerboard shape, electronics, ergonomics, case, stand, ect.
I'd take a close look at that peg box too...looks like a real PITA to change strings. Like the strings have to be threaded through holes or some slotted gizmo to access the tuners. Sort of like a reversed dulcimer peg head...very strange. I want to guess that very few of these were actually manufactured or sold..like the Oregon Bass of which less than ten ever left the workbench.
