An answer to every P Bass related question

Should I buy a P?
I'd like one, but I don't like them. (I think it's the nasal "snarky" sound.) The new D.Lakin model has promise because it has that neodymium strip under the pickup which seems to give it more bite and focus. I'm still thinking about it...
Do I need a P?
As a professional player, no one's ever asked me to play one, and two of my basses can do a very good P impression. So, er no.
What pickguard for my P?
Colours are an insignificance compared to quality, tone and playability.
Do I need flats on my P?
No. Flats make me feel as if I've lost the top end of my hearing. (Maybe people put flats on them so they can't hear themselves in a band situation?
)
Whats with everyones infatuation with a P?
I'm still trying to work this one out. Besides the obvious "it was the original electric bass designed as a more portable instrument for double bass players", I've never seen the attraction. And that's after having owned five of the things. I've tried, honestly I have.
For any other questions refer below:
If relating to anything positive about a P bass the answer is: Yes (i.e. is the P a good bass for a fusion metal latin low fi funk jazz prog rap sound?)
I'm not buying it.
If relating to anything negative the answer is: No (i.e. Is the P Bass overrated?)
Nope. I'm still not buying it.
Alright hopefully that sorts it, a soon to be rapid decline in the number of P bass related threads.

Something came to mind about P-basses: Not everyone has one, not everyone likes them compared to other basses on the market. But should you have a precision bass? Yes, but keep in mind that whatever one person prefers on the type of pbass, it may not be the one for you. And never have a mind set that:"i've played this pbass and it was good/bad, all pbasses are the same." Well you're wrong. You're right in saying that it's good or bad: for yourself.
Personally, i've always prefered the standard MIM over the MIA for affordability, and because i have a better tone with MIM. And i do wish i could play just once a pre CBS fender pbass. But that's a dream for now.
