Another Audition, Advice Needed

I have another audition this week, I really want this gig.

The band is local to where I live.

They are a working Band with bookings

It's a 70's style Trio (Mountain, Hendrix, SRV ect, ect) which is totally my background.

The members are all older, close to my age.

Problem is, they want me to do some vocals and I am very limited in that arena.

Anyone have any ideas or angles on how I can work around the vocal requirement?

Its really going to depend on what is out there. A singing bassist will get a lot more gigs, even if he isn't as good a player as others as long as he's good enough. We're auditoning guitar players right now and if you can't sing you won't get the gig. NO exceptions.

My advice would be to get lessons or hope that any bassplayer that can sing is so bad he's Pete Wentz.
