laurent, come now...no r&d on the heritage b-15? that's just silly talk. all the old parts had to be re-sourced in new versions, the two most popular head versions got combined into one, a new speaker was designed, and the cab was totally updated. there was a lot of r&d done on it. and who really gives a crap if it was a publicity stunt or not? there are now 50 more b-15's out there. that is good news.

anyway, i'm sensing an agenda despite your denials, so i guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

I see your point, and I'm not completely insensitive to it. I still think that pulling old schematics and matching the old specs with modern parts is a lot easier than building a new amp from the ground up.

Strong brands have fans who thinks the brand can do no wrong regardless of what they do. Harley was kept alive during their dark years by such followers and they did re-create themselves in a glorious way. Hope Ampeg is on the same path.

i would be happy to be on their payroll, but unfortunately, they haven't got a job i'm capable of doing that wouldn't require a pay cut

but i will totally admit that i have a vested interest in seeing ampeg continue, and that is the svt. i fly a lot, and the promoters rent gear for us from backline companies. if ampeg bites it, no more svt's. and i don't always get one as it is, so i don't need dwindling supplies screwing me altogether.

i was pretty darn outspoken when loud was screwing ampeg up, though. i would never buy inferior products just on the basis of it being ampeg.

No disagreement here. The Ampeg SVT + 810 was and continues to be the live bass benchmark. I don't have stats on touring acts, but the percentage of of SVT has to be impressive.
