Double Bass Another mic mounting solution

Here is another method of mounting a mic on a double bass! I used a gooseneck mic, and a Neutrik male/female connector (NA3FDM), on a small block of wood, under the fingerboard. The mic can bend all over the place but remains stable. It is a Hypercardoid and pics up very little ambient sounds outside the of the bass. I am happy with the way it works!

And where does the cable go? If it plugs into the back/top of the block, how do you secure it so it isn't bouncing all around the top?

The block is fitted and glued to the underside of the fingerboard.

The cord could be considered a problem. I am looking for some thin, flexible, lavalier mic cordage, to run up to the neck heel, then possibly down the side bout.

The mic came to me cheap, so I had nothing to lose to test it out. Just a fun project to test my curiosity.

Best thing about this set up is the mic placement options, they are easy to adjust and very versatile. I found pointed to the top, near the G string foot works good; It catches a "small whiff" of air coming out of the f-hole that adds some body to the sound. It also works good pointed up towards the strings. Also, the mic is extremely stable and stays completely out of the way.

Not sure how it effects the A B O sound thing. Doesn't seem to be a problem as far as I can tell.

The mic is a akg ck33. It does require phantom power.
