Wrong.
The early Jazz basses were BRAZILIAN Rosewood, not Indian. In fact, you won't find many Indian Rosewood board Fenders (or any other RW board basses, regardless of manufacturer) prior to 1969, when CITES changed the rules regarding the importation of Brazilian Rosewood. Prior to 1969, Brazilian was the most widely available and cheapest rosewood.
