"Another Version of the Truth" NIN Fan Project - Opinions?

To those not in The Know,

18 months after TR gave the NIN Fan Community their "Xmas Gift" of almost 1/2 Tb (!?!) of HD Audio & Video, the "thisoneisonus" project has released the professionally-pressed version of "Another Version of the Truth" - a 3-DVD-or-2 BD/1 DVD set consisting of "Las Vegas", a DVD-quality release of the last show of Nine Inch Nails' "Lights In The Sky" tour, "The Gift", a multi-camera/angle Hi-Def professionally edited, mixed & mastered release from 3 of the last shows on the "Lights In The Sky" tour (Victoria, Portland and Sacramento), as well a full disc of Bonus Material consisting of rarely preformed songs from the tour, alternate visuals, and several "making-of" features documenting the creation of the multi-layered visuals that made this show IMO the most inventive and unique arena-sized tour... perhaps ever (certainly since that heyday of Peter Gaberial-era Genesis or the few original performances of "The Wall")

...so I wanted to get JM-J's opinion on the release (ASSuming, of course, that he's received one - I can't imagine that TPTB didn't get copies to TR and the band members before the public release. If I'm incorrect about that JM-J, drop me a PM/e-mail with a mailing address and I'll get on that ASAP), the quality of, and the fact that something so complex has arisen from the fan community. As for myself, I was crushed when it was announced that a Pro-Shoot in 3D by James Cameron's "Avatar" team was quashed by label sabotage in regards to funding and production, but this fan-made release easily ranks up there with the best released modern-day live recordings, period. I know you've seen the Torrented release but wonder what your opinion is on the "Whole Package"? (aka pressed discs, inserts, packaging and such). I'm simply happy that I now have the ability to relive the 5 shows I attended beyond the scope of my memories, and that I can now view & hear some aspects of the show far better than in real time (namely the "Ghosts Orchestra" portion of the show) - being disabled and attending concerts in my "Link Removed", as Brendon Small of "Metalocalypse"/"Dethklok" fame has named it, limits me to ADA Seating most of the time and therefore had me at an angle that was great for "onstage viewing" but didn't allow the best viewpoint for a large amount of LED screenwork during the middle 1/3rd.

Check out this thread, which talks about not only AVOTT - but pretty much all the stuff from the "gift" raw footage. Justin seems very humbled by the effort and dedication of NIN fans and is really proud of those concerts. I know he's watched them just by some of the replies he's sent either on NIN.com or via twitter - and it was always very positive.

I'd love to see the whole enchilada, I've only seen "The Gift" part, as far as I know. I'm so stoked on all this...I do wonder if I can get a BluRay package at some point, sure would be nice to own in hard copy glory.

OMG I love the "Dethchair" thing, that is awesome. And so glad that, in spite of the bad angles, that you were there at those gigs. A real treasure for me, that's for sure. So yes, having those DVD's for me would be a spectacular memento of my participation in a key time for NIN.

If someone actually could send me one of these, I'd be so thrilled. I'll PM you my address.

Best,
JMJ

Great- I got my PM's, and thanks so much to ALL!!

I put down my Dangerbird address to Fernando Dante, but I also get mail at Rebel Waltz (NIN management). All good either way, Ash. Thanks Ian, thanks Fernando.

Best,
JMJ
