Another What bass should I get thread

I'm looking for a new bass (currently have a MIM Jazz, which I'll keep as a backup)
Things I want:
5 string-excellent B string
Modern, punchy tone
non traditional (i.e. not a J or P copy)
around $2000 USD (no more than $2500)

Currently I play in a contemporary praise band and a rock band if that helps
Also, I'd prefer to buy new but I will entertain ideas on used

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Just what your doctor ordered:

Your expectations are clear, process is long in the face of competition.

I am a cheap Bassist.

While the StingRay5 is well respected as a great reponse, it is still much like the Fenders.

The price range is easily enough to get a punchy modern toned bass.

Something with Bartolinis on tone. Avoid dark/heavy wood cores/bodies. They will work agasinst modern brightness

Bolt ons are best by many to be the way to go for punch.

On Board pre-amp is important equipment. Must have a mid tone contol

Do you want Tight String spacing (Ibanez SR's) or Wide (Smith, Fodera, etc)?

Knowing these things, Make certain for this money that there is at least one stringer in the neck for stabiliy and consistence.

Most of these variables knock Warwick out for me.

I would recommed a current production Ibby BTB, But they are not bolt on, and they no longer use a variable mid freq. Sweepwhich I love. (not inspiring to me anymore, so i'm stuck in the past)

Check out a BTB575. Determine what you do not like about it, for there is a lot of Bass Tech there, and lots of bright maple to get direction from.

With attrbutes and wood in mind you find the bass that inspires your playing.

Wood now more than ever counts.

Peace, Blessings, and Bass

Sounds like a Spector Euro 5LX or NS5CRFM if you can find one!
