Any 2" Nut 6 String Short Scale Basses In Production / For Sale?

The Squire 6 string short scale has a nut of about 1.685" .... The Brice (Rondo) has a 2 1/8" nut, but none are available and they don't know when they will be. The Eastwood (also a 2" nut) is also unavailable. The latter two are the only ones I've found that are all 3 things: 2" nut, 6 string, short scale. I've not found any for sale, new or used.

Does anybody know of any others that are currently for sale (or have a line on a used one of the above)?

Did you let your eyes scan a fraction lower?

From following the SS VI threads for ages, they are made in batches. Fender, Ibanez. OLP and Schecter have all done similar for this class of instrument for years; emailing Eastwood would get you an ETA I'm sure. And I don't own one, so no dog in the fight as I'm happy with my Ibanez.

Who knows when that might be? I'm on the Amtrak and can barely get a signal! I would like one immediately since I'm going to LA for the winter and could not bring my Fender 5 string Jazz bass. I did bring 8 instruments on the train, which has proven somewhat problematic....!

Sometimes instant gratification isn't possible, that's life. You are after something unusual which usually means it's not going to be available on demand. Go get a Squier or HB in the interim and adapt.

Buy a 34" scale 6 string and capo it at the fifth fret. Instant EADGCF tuning at 30" scale and closer to 2" width.

EDIT: I also wish there were production model Bass VI instruments with a wider nut. I got a custom built VI from Ryan Rukavina for a very reasonable price and it's got a slightly wider than average nut that's very comfortable.

I'm guessing you want something more like a regular 6 string bass, and not the Bass VI which is meant to bridge the gap between bass and guitar with a narrower string spacing. Maybe I'm wrong.

At 6'6", I'm quite used to exceptional difficulties, and I always overcome them. There's always a way.

You are correct, not wrong. Ill fitting instruments are not just uncomfortable, but potentially harmful. My Conn New Wonder alto sax (100 year old ergos) caused me a ganglion cyst.
Not a bad idea you have, but part of it is travel. I am on an Amtrak with 8 instruments and it was not easy to pull this off. They train people don't dig this sort of thing. Impossible to bring heavy stuff, so my Fender Jazz 5 stayed home, as did my Casio PX5S, etc. I did bring my Gold Tone Micro Bass, however. Really light and small!

Whoops, my mistake. Capo at the 2nd fret gets close to 30" scale. Just have to retune.

He's in Montana and his website is Home. Unfortunately, he's not taking custom orders right now. He's ridiculously nice and built me a fantastic VI, though.

Curtinsmith Guitars in Australia focuses on short and medium scale basses. His website says he only builds 4 and 5 string basses, but it might be worth asking if he'd build a 6 string since he has built 6 strings before. https://www.curtinsmithguitars.com/southland

It may come down to that. Really, all I (a saxophone player dabbling in strings these days) need is the Rondo Music offering (Brice) that is unavailable. I'd take the bigger form over the less wide neck (Squire). My fingers reach from C to Ab and sometimes even A on piano.

Why wouldn't it? The instrument doesn't know what you're playing on it, nor cares, any more than our piano cares if it's being used to play Chopin or Jerry Lee Lewis. Though put your foot up on it doing the latter and the wife may demonstrate her MA training on you.
