If you could build a bass from favourite parts of any manufacturer, what would your custom shop bass be?

(e.g., neck shape, size, finish, woods, electronics, headstock shape, weight, etc...)

My Sadowsky 25th Anniversary Modern 5-24 and Fodera Viceroy 5 fall in that category.

Common to both:

Mahogany body
Figured Koa top
Ebony 'board
Bolt-on maple neck
Humbucking pickups

Sadowsky features:

Sadowsky preamp
Sadowsky jazz pickups
Semi-chambered body

Fodera features:

Fodera/Pope preamp
Fodera/Duncan pickups
Solid, one-piece body

I think I would go with:

32" - 35" fan fret Dingwall (SJ5 headstock)
Medium thin bolt-on neck, with the satin/gloss finish of a 2008 Fender MIA P
18mm string spacing at the bridge
Fender Roscoe Beck electronics
Brazilian rosewood fingerboard
Maple neck
Light, chambered downsized Jazz body (probably alder or ash)
Total weight 8 lbs
White finish

I don't know of any shops that PLEK basses not made by them, although some may exist. Lakland and Fodera have PLEK machines.

I'd probably go with Dingwall.

Maybe a "hybrid-scale" 33"-36" Super P with an additional P pickup at the bridge. Basic ash with a maple neck and fretboard, either 3TSB or Natural.

Honestly? Everything I want falls into a Spector.

USA built
5 string ReBop body (fully carved & contoured, as opposed to the stock bolt-on USA bass) in gloss bahama blue quilted maple
Routed for Reverse EMG P5 (not the soapbar model) & Jazz in the bridge
EMG BQC pre-amp @ 9V
Birds-eye maple neck with black MoP inlays & body-matched heel
Legend style headstock & brass nut
Chrome hardware with those Dunlop strap locks that are flush with the body

I really wish I knew how to use photoshop. lol It's going to be YEARS before I can afford something like that, and I think it would be a challenge to convince Spector to build it.
