Just wanted to see if there are any other professional automotive technicians on here?

I’ve been a Master Technician since 2005 and have been in a Service Manager role at a dealership for the last couple of years.

I’ve started to reach my fill of the general public as far as franchise dealers is concerned and am considering going back into the field and going into an independent shop.

Any other techs on here?

Retired ASE Master Tech here.

Started in 1983 at a 6 bay Mobil station, went to the corporate world in 1987 and spend 35 1/2 years in the same shop.

@TawodiDalonige - if you go the independent route, are you going as a tech or a Service Manager?

Turning a wrench in SC probably wouldn't be that bad, I don't imagine you see many road salted vehicles there.

Western NY, otoh..... I don't miss battling rusted junk.... especially as a Flat Rate tech.

I still have a flex hex and a dwell meter. Never use them though....
