Hello there, I have a Carvin R1000 amp, and in my opinion it's easily worth the money. For tone, this amp is decent, it's not amazing, but it's got a pretty responsive eq so with some messing around and dialing in you can get the sound you like. Also, the best thing about this amp is how LOUD it is. Seriously, I was powering a 4x10's with this and it was nuts. After one show where I played a little louder than usual, a couple of my friends came up to me after the set and complained to me about how their chest's hurt from the mids and lows!
It's also got a built in compressor which is nice, and has bi-amp capability which is good too, except I only used bridge mode.
In my opinion it's a good bass amp for the gigging musician, its loud and its reliable.
I have mine for sale online now in a rack with a power conditioner and sabine tuner, simply because the band broke up and I don't need the power, if you want I can give you the link to it, I would put it up now but I don't want members to think that I'm advertising by any means, so if you want it just let me know.
Hope this info was to some help.
