Any Marshall Fans Out There?

Hi, This is my first post on TB...
Just wondering if there are any Marshall Amp enthusiasts on board?
It would seem that they aren't the most popular choice, but I have no complaints! I am currently gigging with an '86 200 watt solid state (IBS #3520) head and a JCM 800 4x10 cab. I recently found a JCM 800 super bass 100 watt tube head that I am eager to play live.(kinda want to get a road case for it first)
It seems that most of the current amps are all cranking 300-600 watts. Why is it necessary for so much power? As a local band playing in bars it just seems like overkill, especially if there is a PA.

ah, i guess a bit off the marshall topic, but i will never play on stage without at least 300 watts. After a few thousand shows it still, for me at least, to be the magic number. Even if you aren't cranking the amp and its a small club i have just found that anything under 300 watts just doesn't cut it....on tone, or volume. In particular the low end...i'm no engineer but i've often wondered if its just the physics of it- it just takes some power to move frequencies at the lower end of the spectrum. I have a 250 watt kustom as a back-up and my hand is always worn out at the end of the night when i have to use it. (i KNOW there is room in that line for a good joke...i'll see if somebody bites....doh!)

I owned a Major when I was younger and didn't know what I had. I traded it in on a V4b because it kept blowing fuses. I'd love to have another one. Impressive tube power and tone.

Also would like to get my hands on a Superbass 100. Probably would sound sweet through my NV610. Marshall definitely has a certain Mojo that appeals to me.

I love them too. SuperBass 100s are cool but break up sooner then you might want. Had Majors my new understanding is if they are not well tuned they can be all over the place in terms of sound quality, volume and reliability. The HW stuff was really not the same as the old gear.

This is a funny thing. Even vintage sellers say this. You buy a vintage one it blows a tranny you replace it it's lost some significant value. Connundrum.

Yes I still love them. We used to play some serious bass through those 4x12s and now I would be afraid to destroy vintage speakers. Yet to outfit one of those cabs with new 12s makes them really heavy and they loose the sound they once had. Connundrum.
