Double Bass Any Philly/South Jersey Area Gut Players 'round here?

I'm looking to go to gut strings but the reading and research has my head spinning with too much info, and i'd love to get to PLAY some gut strung basses and talk to some folks about their experiences.

Anyone in the area who would like to entertain my curiousity and hang out and talk bass, please PM me. I'm interested in slap, roots rockbilly and bluegrass, and boppin' jazz playability.

Best way to try guts is to grab a plain gut G and D like Lenzner and chuck them on your bass with your current E and A.

You get 90% of the gut sound and feel, and you have a reference point to compare.

You got that right! Although were it not for the tinkering I never would have found my beloved Pirastro Henriguez guts!

I haven't checked those out yet....been using Gerold Genssler's strings for years now (although I will have the unfortunate to try another string every 8 months or so)...the curse
