any smokers switch to Vaping yet?

Wow, this forum has everything-vaping bass players! I've been a vaper for 2 and a half years. I'm currently using an atmizoo roller (18650 mode) with a kayfun lite and it love it. I have a purple provari as my back up and rather like the look of the zombie edition but can't warrenty the money! I'm also a super moderator on the uk's 2nd largest vaping forum so it has kind of taken over everything. I've just started to play bass again after a 20 year break and that's the one think that feels wierd. Playing with a ciggie hanging out of the corner of your mouth was so much easier than trying to use a mod :)

james - are you just doing the nano on a bed o' cotton thing there?
every time i try that, i end up with burnt cotton ...

i picked up a igo-w from vaporcast on the way home the other day ... haven't found a build i really like in it yet. i tried my dual vertical micro with one wire thing ... holes are not big enough. i tried a pair (my last 2) premade wicks from DV - worked ok for a day, then one coil popped, and now it is at 3.2Ω single ...

i need to get the dremel out and my carbide tapers so i can bore this thing out to about 1.6mm on each side. stock holes are .6mm ... i got up to about 1mm with my needle files, before i broke the tips off of them.

my igo L right now has a 1.7Ω nano (13 wraps of 28g around a 14g needle) and i wrapped cotton around it, down between the posts, and around under the coil. so, kinda like a dragon, but open on both ends. line the air hole up with one end of the coil, and it is like a dragon hooked up with a jet engine.

@ fowler - pick up an njoy or a swisher disposable for that dangly action while playing.

Yes, I rip a pinch of cotton off an organic cotton ball, loosely spin it so the one end is pointed. I thread that under the coil, between the posts. I gently pull it until the thicker end starts resisting against the posts and coil. Then trim it up on both ends so it can be wet and tucked onto the drip well. Very little cotton at all, maybe about as much as spun to the end of a Q-Tip. I dip about 12-13 drops to soak the cotton the first time and then drip 5-6 drops every dozen or so pulls.

I am ordering a second Touchwood soon... this thing is awesome! I've gotten a quote on an 18500 version made from Wenge :smug:

I'll be looking for a 3 post RDA for that one... The Invalid Link Removed is at the top of my list... but an IGO-W with a Cap It All cap might be what I end up with since it's 1/4 the price and AFC isn't something I need.

I tried one of those disposables a little while ago-man, it was one of the worst tasting pieces of junk ever! It was that or nothing so I had to make do as I'd got called to my dad when he was first taken ill and in my hurry to get to him I forgot to pack my refilling bottle-doh! I never made that mistake again. Mind you there are more vape shops and stalls opening up all the time here so things are easier in an emergency!
I've not had much luck with microcoils, I just stick with silica and kanthal at around 1.4-1.6. Any lower just tastes burnt in my kfl. There are certainly so nice mods in this thread :)

Okay, I'm ridiculous. :atoz:

This is my fifth mod (Bolt, Ego 18650, SID, VTR, then the gripper). I truly never wanted to own five mods but here I am. Don't get me wrong, I love my Innokin VTR. It's incredibly well built...but that construction gives it a density like that of a dying star. I was actually going to buy a Gripper before I decided to get the VTR. Madvapes had a killer sale and this actually the second version of the Gripper. I couldn't resist. At any rate, it cost about a half a carton...not too bad.

It's very lightweight but feels like it won't take too much abuse. If it proves to be durable, I'll be a happy camper.

:D Looks good... I sold/gifted one of my GLV, some batteries, and a charger to a friend when my Touchwood was landing so I still only have 2 mods.

I'm torn between ordering a second Touchwood (18500 version in Wenge), a new GLV XL (18350 version that Jay might make), or a Chimera from 1700Fabricators (they made one of my drip tips)

Invalid Link Removed

mech mod made from copper tube, brass ends and stainless caps... 18650 tube but will ship with an 18350 and/or 18500 tube too.

I'm considering upgrading from the starter kit level to an iTaste SVD.

I've only been vaping a few months, but I'm already tired of fixing EGO chargers and such...

Anything else I should be looking at in that range?

I'm liking the idea of removable batteries and small is good.

I don't mind lower capacity, smaller batteries like 18350...

TIA

i hate small batteries.
imr 18350's are only 750-800mah ... my 18650 ICR are 2800mah. in my vamo, pushing my rsst @ 14.5w, i get a day and a half. with a 18350, an hour, tops. if you are running a 3Ω carto in a tank, you might get all day out of 2 18350s.

I'm less concerned with needing to occasionally swap in a fresh battery than I am with size/portability...

Same here....my mods are 16340 and 18350 loaded... small and stealthy. For a quick explanation of size, the first 2 digits is the diameter of the battery in mm. the second 2 digits is the length in mm.

With either the 16340 or 18350 batteries, I keep 3 in rotation. One in the mod, one in the charger, and one in my pocket.

I swap batteries for new in the morning and again at supper... most vapers change atomizers multiple times daily for flavor swapping so I don't see how a couple of battery swaps become any more of an inconvenience. Also, now that I carry 2 mods with 2 different flavors, the lesser used flavor gets a battery swap every other day.

Mike, if you get 36 hours out of a 2800 mah battery, the 800 mah one should last you 10 hours... sounds like your 18350 battery or mod are faulty. I run 0.5 to 0.8 ohm on mine and they last throughout my work day and/or evening without issue. I could likely get the full day, but I keep myself on a schedule of changing when I get up and at supper just to not run the cells too low.

Okay, for the guys who are running rebuildable tanks.

My buddy runs a rebuildable Smoktek tank sub-ohm with mechanical mod. I hate to admit it but it puts my VV/VW mods with Vivi Novas and iClear 30s to shame. Is it the rebuildable part, the sub-ohm level, or a combination of the two that makes it hit so hard?
