actually, this is slightly more related to how to correctly burn something to cd....I'm having a contact of mine send me some "images" of cds for stuff I want to put on my computer, and I hear i have to "mount the image" to disc, I was specifically wondering how exactly to do that well
Just select burn disc image in nero or whatever, and choose the image file (.bin, .cue, whatever), thats how we passed a few demos around
You could also use a program like PowerISO which will mount cds for you without the need of burning. For certain size concerts you may have to extract them to a "temp" folder, your computer will help you through this process.
There's a format UIF. This is specifically for the program Magic ISO. Just an FYI.
Daemon tools is another option. I prefer PowerISO.

Power ISO is money though, unless you er... torrent it. Not legal though.
Daemon Tools is free on the other hand, but I do prefer Power ISO myself for mounting.
well, i mean, in a few minutes i'll have the full images, in .ISO format. so basically i can just use XP's built in burning software or nero and just plug it on the discs i need to get everything running?
Honestly, I think they only ask you to register it, but it will still work without registering. You just get that annoying Register/Continue Trying/Cancel option box.

ISO files are images of CDs. How does your computer view CDs? Through a device. A device is a media reader. These programs were mentioning create a device on your computer, read it via said device and run on your PC. Like creating a fake F: drive and porting the ISO information through it. Thats kinda oldschool like Daemon tools.
These programs also have the ability to burn discs based on ISO information. Thats where a program like NERO will come in. Windows does not include this option. My stance is always why waste the media though; use the digital option and save the planet another disc of waste for something that'll only last a few years. Digital FTW!...

I mostly download concert videos from The Traders Den. All legal and there are some real gems there.
I wish the software vendors that insist on distributing software only by ftp/http downloads would start using the technology.
It get really old having their servers bandwidth load balanced at 25k/sec to pull down 4GB images.

I download music from demonoid. Keep AWAY from things like games and movies from torrents. A freind of mine dl'ed 4 games, and his comp crached cuz of viruses.

Downloading games isn't too risky, so long as you stick to the ones that have the little "tags" on them. Like how the really popular albums sometimes have that "[Darkside RG]" on the front.
i tried azureus cuz i was seeing all the downloaders of my upload rates, but all I had to do was paste the 75 percent of what i had from bittorrent into there, and i'd have to say it was catching a lot more seeders than i ever gotten before (10 or 12 at a time compared to 2)
