Anybody going DI to Behringer X32?

My band is using a Behringer X32 digital mixer. I'm wondering if anyone has experimented with going direct from bass>DI>X32, and using the X32's onboard FX to shape your tone? I see that the "X32's Stereo / Dual Guitar Amp" effect is modeled after a Tech 21 SansAmp. There are also a variety of other compressors and effects.
 
I regularly use a DI with an X32. I haven't played with those modeling FX in there, but they certainly worth playing with. Use it like a channel insert.

I have played with the old tube compression FX inserted on the bass channel and those work very well. But I tend to not compress the my own bass tone, preferring to have the sound guy treat the bass as he/she sees the need.

I am currently using a GK Plex (DI) into the X32, which sounds excellent. In the interest of simplifying my setup even further, I would consider dropping the Plex and using the X32's onboard FX.
Like Geri.. been going direct to X32 for some time DI off SVT7Pro or DI off Ampeg SCRDI.
DO NOT use onboard EFX (other than chan effects like comp, EQ, etc.) for tone shaping.
Channel EFX are for FOH.

This would be appealing if you're running the Waves multirack.

I've played around setting up a bass channel w/ plug-ins on the XR18. B/c of the XR18's plug-in limits, this isn't practical for gigging; but even sonically, I prefer my computer-based plug ins for bass.
 
I just read a post on another form where somebody reported a 9ms latency when running the Waves plugins live with the X32. To compensate, they adjusted the delay on the other channels. This might be getting more complicated than I care to deal with.

YEah, I can concur on that.. We tried running them remotely (laptop) to the X32, we encountered up to 22ms delay. We dropped pursuit of that approach!

Waves multirack does this for you. If one group has more latency than another, it will automatically add some to make them equal.
The latency is over hyped. You may not want as much latency in the monitor side as the FOH side. Use less effect on the monitor side.

Our own view of reality is 300 - 500ms behind reality. Brains have ways to compensate for this. It only becomes confusing for singers who have internal paths to their hearing, but even then - slapback echo's have been used since the dawn of FOH as an effect, And brains cope.

Yes - well know.
For vision try this, look in a mirror and move your eyes - try to catch them moving. Humans can't.
Dog's and other animal catch onto this and know what a reflection is.
For ears and eyes check out the McGurk effect - what you see influences what you hear. Your brain lines up the audio and visual.

Your brain lines stuff up to make sense of reality and it's always behind reality by at least a third of a second.

Mic a snare drum on stage, if the FOH speaker is 20ft from the snare that's 20ms delay between the snare and the foh.
FOH being first from the audience perspective, and behind from the drummers.
 
300-500 ms is typical reaction time to a surprising event, such as a dimwit pulling out in front of you while you're cruising down the road. But when it comes to audio, most audio professionals say that anywhere above 5-10 ms behind or ahead of the beat starts to be noticeable. And a tempo of 120 beats per minute translates to two beats a second or 500 ms between each beat, and a tempo of 180 bpm translates to 3 beats a second or 333 ms between each beat. If you're trying to tell us that's not noticeable, I'd say you never listened to music.
