yes man, correct but, in a very very few words, i've owned several things of MB (a cabinet, a little mark and a 1x12 combo) and IMVHO, it sucks...especially the cabinet: i really don't like what they're doing wiht neodymium speakers

I used to think that TC was another level of quality and, apart from some issues i've stated before, i'm still in that feel.

Just FYI. There are many, many, many posts by quite a few MB users who love the MB heads but, like you, don't really dig most of the cabs. I feel that way also.

If the TC doesn't work out, I would highly recommend revisiting the Markbass heads (especially the F1, F500 and the soon to be released LMIII) with other cabs. They sound sublime (if you like it clean and accurate) with Epifani and Bergantino cabs, in general. IMO!

i think that both head and cabinet deserve another chance (or more than one) before i make a final statement

Cool. We all have different tone goals. You just didn't seem that jazzed with the TC stuff in your post above, and given the lukewarm response from others, I thought I'd throw the MB heads with different cabs idea out there. If I had only used and heard MB heads with their cabs, I wouldn't be nearly as positive myself. I love the simple, powerful, clean, accurate tone myself, but I don't use effects or 'tube emulation' and all that stuff.

yes you're right, i'm trying to figure out how to have the best from my new head and cabinet

in general you have to know that (obviously i only speak for myself ) i look at MB somewhat in a "suspicious way": they are young and, IMVHO, they're doing too many stuff recently: bass heads, cabs, guitar heads, P.A. and (recent news) they're going to produce stomp boxes too....we'll wait and see anyway

People like Marco have been around for a long time. He didn't
just start with Markbass. So far, his concept and execution
have been very successful. If he has ideas and resources, why
wouldn't he want to expand his company and be even more
successful? Doing a number of different musical products
hasn't seemed to hurt Fender much. All the items you mention
easily fit under one business umbrella. Good luck Marco.

Well Michele, perhaps in your neck of the woods Markies are just a local amp and thus no big deal (kind of like the way some Canadians regard Traynor).

But in North America, Markbass' products are generally regarded as representing the current gold standard in solid state bass amp tone--a gold standard which tc's new rig appears to be in direct competition with.

IMHO there are plenty of great bass amps being made by talented regional manufacturers who pursue different design & tone goals, develop different feature sets, and target different market segments.

When I look at the outstanding and broad quality of what is available to-day, all I can say is where was gear this good when I was gigging!

Do I feel cheated by history? You're darn right I do!

You're right man, and i'm so happy for marco's success.

i was only trying to say that i don't like MB cabinets at all (maybe it's the "neodimyium project"...i don't know) and also the heads that i had a chance to try wel...i didn't dig'em that much..

I was also trying to say that, imho, maybe is a little early for marco to enlarge is product line that much..but i can surely be wrong

from what i've seen with my poor eyes, the first try of TC ELECTRONIC is, at least, already at the best levels of MB production

Thing is, I am too busy anyway to screwaround with an amp and cabs that are dubious. I like TC effects and plugins a lot, but the amp is almost feature devoid. Reminds me of the Ashdown Fly or whatever it was called?
