No, there's probably some confusing info going around.
There was one black fretless that ONE guy obviously really wanted and bid very high on it, but other than that, non of the others went near that high at all.

The prices seemed to settle back down since then.

I love and miss playing my ripper. The fretboard is shot on it, so its destined to be a wall hanger forever unless I ever find a use for the parts. I sold the pickups and the rotary switch out of it, so at least someone is getting some use out of it. Maybe I'll put the bridge and tuning machines on ebay.
