Anyone knows about price for Fodera bass

Hi,
I live in Canada and there isn't much decent shop here.
I couldn't find any Fodera bass, and even tho I do, they will be ridiculously priced.

I am thinking of going to seattle WA, or buffalo, NY to buy one. Does anybody know price range for

Fodera Monarch 4 string buckeye burl top
Fodera emperor 4 string buckeye burl top

Also, any good retail shop at that area?

Finally any advice is appreciated!

why not try the Groove Shoppe, now is definitely the time to buy with our dollar the way it is.

Club Bass has nothing to do with Foderas.

I have a few Foderas and live in Canada...I'd steer you towards David and Joel at The Groove Shoppe. Dave took good care of me with my orders and is really one of the most knowledgable guys on Fodera around. He also worked there at one point. They are in NY and are able to go to the Fodera factory regularly and check on their orders.

I have two Foderas, and I can assure you that they are not easy to find, nor are they inexpensive. If you want one quickly, your only choice is to search out a dealer and hope they have what you want in stock but it's not too likely. In that case, you will have to custom order, and that is a lengthy and expensive proposition.

Unfortunately there are very few dealers of Foderas anywhere, and only one that I am aware of in Canada - Ultimate Basses in Guelph (only one Fodera in stock). If you want to check out representative pricing you should look up Bass Central, the Groove Shop, Planet Bass, Bunny Bass, Bass And Beyond, The Low End, and maybe Google search a few more.

The basses that you are looking for will likely cost in the neighbourhood of $6000 new, and $4000 used. I may be selling an Emperor 4 pretty soon (not buckeye burl), and if I do the asking price will be around $4K.

+1 to all of the above. The exchange rate will help you, but new bass spec'd based on your post will run about $5,500 selling price for an Elite... maybe $1,000 less for a bolt-on (just guessing on the exact price there... but it will shock you!), and if you order one custom, there will be AT LEAST a three year wait.

So, I would check out stores like Bass Northwest, Bass Central, Austin Bass Traders, etc. that either have a couple in stock, or that have ordered a few that are 'in process'.

Nothing sounds like a Fodera, but.... basses by Roscoe, Skjold, MTD, etc. are every bit as good regarding quality and fit and finish, are a fraction of the price, and a custom order is under one year.

Ken is actually being a little conservative, but I know he hasn't bought a Fodera for a while. I think a new Elite 4 banger would actually be closer to 7k. In that a full top on an Elite is, reportedly, an expensive option, I would just (and did just) opt for a set neck deluxe model. The full top is "no extra charge". The only think I've seen around 3k are the New Standard basses (bolt on/2-band EQ). You can find nice, used bolt-on Emperors for close to 4k. That appears to be the state of the market right now. New deluxe models, I think, are running about 6k.

+1... they do keep going up, and I forgot about that huge upcharge for the solid top on the neck through elite. +1 also that the deluxe or bolt on is the way to go if you want the 'solid top' look.

Thanks all for reply.
I guess I have to clarify things for someone.

If fodera costs me 4g or 6g, I am willing to pay for it.
But I don't want to pay 8g when I can get it for 6G.

For those who live in Canada, you will know what I mean.
Price in Canada is often ridiculously high.

I was thinking about custom but...
if it takes at least 3 years, I guess i have to forget about it.
