Anyone on TB Hire Landscapers?

I do my own lawn work. I hate doing it though but I can't afford to hire someone to do it. For the last 6-7 years I've been using an electric mower! Good lord, why did I buy that thing! Well, the 2 previous gas mowers would no longer start. I didn't know about the ethanol thing. Well, the electric died and now I'm back to gas but I treat the gas now. So far so good.

We've had this Lawn Boy since the 1990's, when we lived in central Texas and had to mow the lawn at least weekly for 9 months a year. Now we mow about 4 months a year. In 20 years, it has had 2 blades, 2 spark plugs and only one failure to start - fixed by replacing the ignition module. It's self-propelled and we've never had to replace the drive belt. That is one durable mower! I have only good things to say about Lawn Boy.

I had a Craftsman mower before this; it was self-propelled by the front wheels, and every time a wheel got jammed against something, the metal drive gear drive stripped the plastic gear inside that wheel. I was spending $40 a year on replacement wheels. The Lawn Boy is rear-wheel propelled, has had zero drive problems, and is a much better mower.

My wife and I spend a lot of our day in office chairs, so walking the mower is worthwhile - although we appreciate the self-propelled drive. It's the only way to go.

I've done all my lawn. I have a push lawnmower that has the pull along feature. The house at the farm in France sits on s hill so this feature is handy.

We decided to extend the lawn down the hill, more that doubling the area. Knowing this would. Three hours with the push mower would have been a major chore, so we bought this:

It takes me 40 minutes. Next month, we will have nine trucks of earth dropped in another area to smooth it out. The tractor does an excellent job. It mulches, so no need to rake or get a grass catcher. Plus it's a lot of fun.

I cut my own lawn. I'm not opposed to hiring a professional......I've just never found one that used proper gear for my sized lawn or that did the job to my standards.
