Anyone out there knowledgeable on tennis rackets?

When I was younger, I was a fairly serious tennis player, mostly serve and volley, pretty good server. After 30 years, at age 61, I'm looking to get back into playing. There are a few used rackets I'm looking at, and was wondering if anyone had some feedback on those models, or suggestions on reasonably priced options.

2. Wilson Hyper Hammer 5.3 Carbon
3. Head Flexpoint 6 Liquidmetal

For me, I would go with the Head Liquidmetal. I actually use one of the earlier liquidmetal Radicals (107 inch) and really like it. But then all my racquets are older generations. My favorite is a Dunlop Maxply McEnroe (the graphite version, though I had the wood one back in the day). I actually still use a Max 200g from time to time. I'm just playing for fun, so they still work fine for me.

I think affordable racquets by the big brands are so good today you really can't go wrong. Maybe choose whether you like a 105sq in head size or something smaller like a 90. And then grip size.

It would be best if you can access a tennis retailer that has a court space where you can "try before you buy". We had that option but it's been years now. I was really impressed with the light-weight aluminum rackets.


Even at 65, I'd love it the Mrs asked for us to go at it again. I loved simply volleying back & forth. Just to move and stay active.
