Uhh... thank u but i practice 3- 4 hours a day (so i no i practice enough) and shredding nots not the only style i can play.

I suggest practicing grammar and spelling some too. ;)

Just poking fun.

I think the thing that set people off is that you basically said you went into a store, cranked up an amp that is not a bass amp and started playing guitar on bass. It sounds that you were being a bit rude. Why rude? Because you cranked it up enough to the point where people were giving you nasty looks. So, either you suck or you were too loud or you sucked and were too loud. Those are your three options. Only you and the people at Sam Ash know which is true. Actually, probably just the people at Sam Ash know what is true.

Wow, the haters on here. What the heck is wrong with having a little fun?!?!? He said he turned up to the level that was comparable with the bass thumpers in the store, not blow the store out with things pegged at 11!

I say play how you play, who says bass has to be boring. I say ROCK ON TOO!!!

Personally, the thing I don't get is how going into a guitar store and "shreding an stuff, u no" where there are all the "slap 'n popers" and then getting nasty looks makes you cool or something? Personally, I love doing things on instruments you aren't supposed to do. If you always did the same thing with everything, we'd still be using two rock to make music. The problem was his attitude and going into a store with his over 600+ shredding hours just to piss off other players. That's what bugged me, I don't know about the other folks.

i Actually play in a band and play gigs also I've had accomplished guitarist and bassist alike compliment me so i think the problem i had was alot of bassist i run into dislike my style of playing and consider me i guitarist on bass (which considering music is an art is completely untrue) so with all things considered i just think they probably just didn't like my style because i know i wasn't playing any louder than anyone else ty tho

PS to everyone sorry for sounding like a douche bag earlier i was just really pissed at SOME of the idiots on this forum

Like i said earlier i was just playing around and i wasn't playing for anyone but me i noticed they seemed annoyed and i certainly wasn't playing to be cool

SOME of you guys really need to read what i'm saying

i'm sorry explain to me how i was disrespectful and to it takes talent im not talking boutmick mars or sum idiot like that im talking about EvH who is also a huge influence once you can play like that come back and tell me it requires no talent. I have put in 600+ hours exclusively to master this style and im still working to pull myself to the top. ( i cn say im close tho)

EvH isn't a "huge" talent, bach is. EvH knows how to tap a few simple melodies quickly, i can do that 4 times at once on a single bass, its not hard. Shredding isn't anythign to be proud of, anyone can play fast once their muscles develop, not everyone can write a beautiful piece of music, which is something EvH still has yet to do.

If you want a guitarist to model your "shredding" after, look into jeff loomis or Chris Broderick from Nevermore. Good luck.

To the OP: is this your CL ad?

I am a 17 year old bass player...the best youve ever heard....no joke. All the old men out there that think they can play have nuthin on me. Im looking to start an originl band, one that centers itslef around my bass playing. I will be the star, but I need a guitar player and a drummer that are kick ass....maybe a guy that can sing NO chicks!. This is gonna be the best hardcore deathemetel band that ever came out, so if you wanna ride my coattales, then this is the time to get on bored. Im gonna be huge, and you can be too just by being close tome....dont miss out drummers and guitar players! I dont have a car, so youll have to pick me up, or we can meet at the McDonalds on 72nd and harrison to talk cuz I can walk there. I have a bss, but no amp..so if you havr an extra, that would be cool.JUst wait and hear me...you wont be disapointed! The real deal here!!! Lets get this goin

BWHAHAHAHAH! Everything about that post (save maybe the Bach reference) is about as ridiculous as the original post in this thread.

EvH knows how to tap a few simple melodies quickly

I cannot stop laughing at that. Hilarious! Feed us more.

You say:

not everyone can write a beautiful piece of music, which is something EvH still has yet to do.

Then, you recommend this:

If you want a guitarist to model your "shredding" after, look into jeff loomis or Chris Broderick from Nevermore

I never heard them, so I Youtubed them and found this:

I respect different styles of music, sure. But comparing that guy's playing to EVH? Wow.

You're beyond help if you seriously think EvH is a better guitarist than Loomis or Broderick...

and you'll notice, i mentioned those two guitarists in relation to their shredding ability... not their music writing ability.

Lets see EvH Shred like this:

Thanks for coming out though.

PS to everyone so for sounding like a douche bag earlier i was just really pissed at SOME of the idiots on this forum

Wow buddy! Ease up on the language :rollno: kind of a newbie aren´t you? What did you expect? you came here bragging about your bad boy antics and expect some kind of celebration?

My .2 cents: Give up the name calling, take it easy, and enjoy one of the greatests on-line communities ever, it´s full of useful information, great guys and gals to share your experiences with, and it´s a lot of fun IMHO.

Yup. Those guys sure crammed a lot of notes in there. That's impressive! Those guys are definitely fast. I don't think anyone would argue that.

I plugged into a guitar amp cause the bass amps don't have gain and the pedals didn't sound good.(but like i said earlier playibility wise bass>electric

Welcome to TB. All are supposedly welcome here, so, well there ya go...

Not to divert from the high level, insightful debates going on here, but some bass amps have a gain control (my Markbass combo amp for one), and my MXR Bass fuzz pedal is quite good as well, so much so that my daughter plays her Strat through it rather than cranking the gain on her guitar amp.

Kid,

You have the right to shred;
You have the right to treat music like it was a competitive sport and not an art;
You have the right to be musically ignorant;
You DO NOT have the right to ejaculate your immature crap into the airwaves used by real musicians.

Get off my lawn.
