On the Streamline, if you ordered the 16.5 mm spacing, the neck width was still the same as if you had the 18mm. Just the strings were closer.

Since you’re so curious about this… it’s a combination of things, assuming you don’t have these same basses, so I’ll attempt to articulate my points a bit better.

I like the asymmetrical neck profile of the Streamline and the neck is reasonably thin and I like the playability overall.

Yes the Streamline neck would be the same regardless of either narrow or wide string spacing, however with the 18mm spacing the G string is right at the edge of the fingerboard… so that coupled with the wider string spacing and slightly wider 47.2mm nut width and contrasting this with the only other bass I currently own with 18mm string spacing, my Patriot with a 46mm nut (I think it’s actually listed at 45mm but used my caliper to measure to help quantify for you)… the Streamline feels a bit wider (and it is).

If I was able to select the 16.5mm upon ordering from Rob, I would have preferred to, but string spacing was already decided at the point of my order and he couldn’t (or wouldn’t) change it.

So while I can deal with 18mm spacing on certain instruments (still prefer not to) some do actually feel tighter than others even though they both have, on paper, the same dimensions at the bridge.

Bro, sorry if I implied that I don't own a Streamline 5. I do! And I was afraid of the g-string being too close to the edge so I ordered with 16.5mm spacing. Love it! Thanks for your writeup though.

That’s another option I really wish I was able to get, but still great either way. Mine’s going back for a warranty repair and wondering if he’ll move the monos together for the 16.5… If not, it might be a project for me next spring.

Oh, question for you… Buddy of mine in Oslo sent me a picture earlier this year of a car in front of him with a vanity license plate that said “bassist” anyone you know?

I did get LED's on the side, which already proved useful at a few theater cabarets/shows where we started in complete darkness. Directors.....

Lived through the 80's without ever owning or wanting one.

Have one now though that was by necessity not choice. Timber fella had taken delivery of torrefied utile, unsure of it's merit he gave me some. The light weight had me concerned about neck dive.

I have headless popularity. It’s most recent. I went to that party and had a great time. I tried staring in the mirror when getting ready but I couldn’t see myself and gave up.

At the party I was included in every group. I didn’t do much side talking. Okay none. Even when conversations got testy around controversial subjects like the weather you could say I kept my head but that would be a falsehood. Speaking of which a hood would have reduced other’s questions and discomfort. Most people aren’t headless-aphobes but it can take them a few gatherings to relax completely with my distinction. I’m sorry people were cutting there hair care and hat shopping stories to a minimum. I want people to be free to speak freely around me.
The advantage for me is in self care I’m not spending any of the time I used to in my headspace.
