anyone try a Phil Jones Bass Cab 27?

Hmmmmmm very interesting. I've never had the chance to play any PJB stuff. This looks promising. I know they have great luck using smaller diameter speakers. Subbed.

EDIT: I noticed that all the tabs are grayed out. I'm interesed in the dimensions and weight. Wondering if it's under 25 pounds.

just wondering - has anyone tried one of these Phil Jones Bass Cab 27s in person yet? i'd try one at sam ash, but they're not actually in stores near me.

I own one.I also own two Phil Jones C4 cabinets & a Session 77 combo amp.
The 27 is the same speakers as the Session 77. 8 ohms impedence.
Did a gig over the holiday season with just the Cabinet 27.Drove it with a Quilter Bass Block 800 set for 200 watts.I had no PA support & the Cabinet sounded great & was plenty loud enough.Granted it was a private house party & not a big stage.I was using an Xaviere J bass with flats.(not an expensive bass).This was a rock/oldies band & we weren't really loud but it wasn't easy listening levels either. I'll bet two of these cabs would be fine for medium rooms with no PA support.One does small venues nice.It weighs about 29 lbs.Believe it or not I used it as an emergency PA cabinet the other night & it sounded really good.Have used it as a vocal monitor too & that worked well.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Could you please tell us about the difference between the C4 and the Cab-27? They are about the same weight and I'm very interested in comparing them. I know the C4 is listet at 400 Watts but I also read that these drivers are a bit hungry for Watts and the enclosure of the 27 is larger and back-ported. Is the Cab-27 more dependent on where you position it? Is the C4 really louder or are they about the same?

I own the Phil Jones 27 and have gigged with it several times in smaller venues. It does well with the Phil Jones BP-200 head but I think using two of them would be much better because with just the one cab the head maxes out at 120 watts. With (2) cabs you could access the full 200 watts and for those smaller venues you would have the muchneeded head room that you don't get with the single cab. I am also interested in the Trace Elliott 1x10 Cab as well because of the 16# weight. The TE is rated at 300 watts. The Phil Jones 27 is 29# and is rated at 200 watts. Ashdown had a 1x12 cab that come in at 25# that would also be nice. My Fender Stage 800 is 39# as is the extension cabinet so I am always looking for lighter weight cabs. A pair of any of these cabs would be good and a 300 to 350 watt head would also be desirable as well.
