anyone tuning a 6-string bass EADGBE?

thanks for the responses...that worker bee is pretty bada$$...and baritones are cool, I've played a few, but I'm in a trio and really need to stay in the bass range.

ok, I'm thinking of something as close to a jazz as possible....narrow neck height (I won't be slapping/popping on it), passive j type pickups...simple. I might have to have that built huh? I really would like to stay around $1k, but that's probably not gonna happen..

Invalid Link Removed 30", E-e, $550

I use standard Fender VI gauges (95-75-55-45-35-25) on my Hellcat VI, but my Marathon 6 has a beefier neck and is currently strung 105-85-65-50-40-30; I'm going to bump the two high strings to 45 and 35 next time I restring it.

I'm curious, are the Fender VI string sets all wound strings? The reason I ask is I recently bought a set of D'Addario EXL280 Piccolo strings for my 4 string, and the G string is stainless steel, which feels noticeably different than the rest of the set when playing fingerstyle. So I'm thinking about buying a set of the Fender VIs and using the first four strings, PROVIDED they're all wound. I assume that piccolo and baritone range are the same range, no?

Hi! on a 4 string I sometimes use D,G,B,E, on a 6 string I'm using
E,A,D,G,B,E,/gauge:0.100",0.080",0.065",0.045",0.035",0.025"

These Gauges will not alter your concert pitch, and gives you
normal feel and string tension. Nut height is not altered, but you may need to adjust at bridge to have the same action height.
String Length/Intonation may need checking, I have found,
sometimes different strings, create a change, at least check your 12th fret pitch with your open string pitch.

I pick notes from chord formations, I can't remember
pentatonics on the fly, works for me! good luck.

Am thinking about on a 6 string I'm using
E,A,D,G,B,E,/gauge:0.105",0.080",0.065",0.045",0.030", 0.20p" course am going to Tune to normal F for a bass as well so EADGCF to tune it to Stander I can just buy a .125 gange string for it. Also am thinking about just calling my Tuba Guitar because of my from the nut to bring its 34"
