Anyone use Pyramid Short Scale Tapewounds?

I'm considering them for my Hofner Club. I just put on a set of LaBellas (Beatle Bass, 50-100) but find them too slinky. The Pyramid gauges are radically higher, 55-112, but maybe that's the ticket for a tighter feel. They also state their set is also for a Beatle Bass. Open to other suggestions for Hofner/tapewounds too.

I had the stock Hofner/Pyramid set on my German Hofner and that really was the "Come Together" tone (even though he was probably on tapewounds at the time!). Anyway, just a bit too "thuddy" for me. TI jazz flats livened things up just enough! Don't buy the standard 32 inch medium scale as they have too heavy E string, get the JF324H set to fit through the small Hofner machine heads and a lighter gauge E string. Start saving your pennies now but you'll never need to replace them!

Thanks for the info, appreciated. I've tried TI Jazz rounds, D'Addario tapewounds, now the LaBellas. I liked the TIs the best but that set is still a little too slinky for a solid feel. In the meantime I just put a set of GHS Balanced nickels that I had previously tried and they really are a different world on the Hofner. Huge sound and tight tension. The E is .106 which seems pretty heavy for this bass until you play it. I may stick with these for awhile.

Um, the gauges on the Pyramid Nylon tapes will not be "higher." Take about 15 thou off the advertised diameter of each string for the nylon wrap, which contributes essentially zero tension to the string. So underneath the wrap, the Pyramid nylon tape strings will have about the same tension as a 40-95 set of conventional rounds.

Congratulations on using the GHS BPN's. I have posted many times they are God's gift to short scale bass players. I use them on my travel bass.
