Anyone got any experience of using EV ELX 112 (passive version)?

I've found loads of reviews on the active versions but none on the passive ones. I'm thinking of ordering these just for vocals and occasional acoustic guitar but aren't able to try them out first

Can't speak to the passive ones, but I use the active for acoustic guitar & vocal solo stuff. Good sounding speaker. Not quite the round low end of a 15, but compared to the elx115p it had less of the 2-way 'hole' in the mids. With appropriate power I'd think the passive would be identical, so the active reviews should hold true.

I'd be concerned on the match of the blend of the speaker/tweater on the passive version. I own the powered version, and I think it's bi-amped, which might be clearer than the passive?

I've owned some passive Peavey's, and Yamaha. My powered EV's and RCF completely smoke them both.

I've used them a couple times with an install. They sound great. Good value. Either those or the JBL JRX series are a good mid priced box. The powered versions are great as well, but in a shoot out I went with the JBL PRX three ways with the heavy duty subs over the EV ELX self powered stuff. But I paid a substantial difference as well for the upgrade. I use them for small club work for a rock and a variety country act and they kill. We've used them with the country act in shelter, band shell work and came across as loud as we needed to.

But you would be happy with the EV box just fine. Nice smooth HF.
