Anyone using a presonus Firepod?

Using a firepod? What software? I bought a firepod off tb no software came with it, wanting something thats pretty seemless, but can be used for recording full band demos. I have aquired cubase 5 here, but I dont know what im doing wrong it doesnt seem to be setting up like the vid on cubase 4le on their website, cant get it to show the different lines to select line 1 for my bass track, etc.

Are you using Windows? If so does it show up as a valid device in windows? Make sure you have the proper drivers for it from presonus. I have a firestudio project with Cubase Le4...should be very similar in setup.

I use a FireBox from Presonus, not the FirePod.

I've used Garageband, Logic, Live, DigitalPerformer and Reason all with it with no problems what-so-ever.

yes sorry windows XP Pro, I couldnt get my hands on a cheap mac for this project so i threw together a PC just as a recording box. drivers are installed, though at first I had to manually install because it didnt install off the driver installation :/ the firepod shows up in the presonus software and I have a blue link. I actually wish i had the cubaseLE that comes with these, but I didnt get the software with mine thought cubase 5 would work the same.

I know you have to go into the setup somewhere and add the actual channels in Cubase. I'll look at mine when I get home this evening and see If I can post something that might be helpful.

that would be good, Im going to try and reinstall cubase now that the firepod is installed instead of installing it before the firepod as i did, someone suggested that to me, as a possible reason it is not seeing it.

LOL never thought I would be wishing for a Mac. Ive been a PC user since windows 3.1 :/ never could get use to a mac, now that im trying to get into recording seems most of the good programs are mac only.

Ok in Le4, go into devices and VST connections (shortcut F4). Mine defaults to two stereo channels, which are inputs 1 & 2. If you don't see any of your channels, click the add bus button. Select Stero or Mono, probably mono. It should automatically select one of the available ports from the firepod. If not when it adds the bus, click in the device port box (yellow box) and it should bring up a list of all available ports.

See if that helps you any.

I have three firepods linked via firewire and I use Adobe Audition 3.0. It has been fantastic. I've recorded all 24 channels with no problems. I agree with the others, get the most recent driver from Presonus.

yeah I dled the drivers from them this came with just the hardware and a firewire cable. working with cubase 5 now, this thing is picking up nasty string noise, didnt think i played so sloppy listening from my stack LOL

LOL...I get the same thing, hopefully it'll improve over time. Only been at the bass for 6 months now.

That actually sounds like a very good deal.

I qualify for academic pricing over here, and just checked it out - £200 (about $320). I would have been tempted if I'd found that a few months ago, but since then I've switched from Cubase LE4 to Reaper and I'm really happy with the way that works, so I don't think I'll be upgrading Cubase anytime soon.

i run 3 firepods with Cubase SX3, have for years, ...rock solid. I use a pc with xp pro.
I record live demos never a problem that isnt a stupid one. You will love it!
