Apogee Duet for iPad/Mac with Skype?

Hey guys,

I'm starting Skype lessons soon and am trying to work this situation out: I want my direct bass signal and voice audible during Skype sessions. Currently my bass is going through a DI into XLR In 1 on the Duet, and my mic is going into XLR In 2. With the Duet selected as the i/o on System settings (MBP), Maestro, and Skype, the bass signal is going through to the other person in the Skype call just fine, but no mic signal. Duet is reading input levels for the mic, and the mic signal is coming through my monitors.


Any insight on this one?

It should be working...
Nevertheless, if you're running a Mac, you could test if creating an aggregate device fixes your problem. You could combine your duet with your build-in mic into one device. Look for a guide in Apple's website.

Im guessing Skype only accepts a single signal - I'll try the aggregate device, but have also found a program called jackOSX that routes audio i/o from any OSX program to any other OSX program. This way I can input to Logic and route its output to Skype. I'll post results as soon as I can do a test call.

When you connect the Duet, the Mac's sound device is automatically switched to it by Apogee's driver, and so you don't have access to the mic because it is part of the internal sound device. JACK may let you route it. I'm not sure, but I think it might be constrained by the same limitation I just described, though. If it is, an aggregate device is easy to make in the Audio MIDI Setup utility.
