Well for one thing your kinda snide "neener neener" attitude prompted my reply. It's the same Apple / PC debate cost vs. this and that every time. I bet dollar to donuts your notebook is not made of rigid milled aluminum for starters...or that it has dual graphics processors for two...but why quibble?

That said, in re: to HP & Toshiba, it isn't just me saying it man, coulda sworn this was just "known" by people who know better about PC manufacturers...it's not a matter of price but the quality of the components and the soundness of design...but I wish you the best with your notebook. But I will say I know of not one person who has had good experience with the HP/Compaq brand.

Personally, I would have bought the Apple... or the Dell.

I got another 2 years on my MBP, as soon as that warranty is up...to ebay it goes...can't wait to see what mac will have for me then.

That's opinion. I'll take my Mac over Alienware any day of the week (which again, is opinion).

The only complaint I have about the new MacBook Pros is that they got rid of the matte display option (glossy only, it seems).

Other than that, VERY cool.

My current one is almost three years old, so a new one should be coming in a few months (our office tries to rotate machines every three years).

I do have a serious complaint about the new MacBooks (non-pro), though...WHY DID THEY GET RID OF FIREWIRE?!?!?!?

I got a glossy a year ago. I did some research, and virtually no one regrets going with the glossy. In bright light actually fares better, as though there is more of a specular highlight it's localised so you can just angle the screen to avoid it whereas the matte is bad from any angle.

Glad they finally switched the Pro port layout back to the layout of the regular one (DVD on one side, ports on the other). It's a WAY better solution than the last gen Pro's which had ports all over, and DVD on the front, where it was guarenteed to get in the way.

I know a few guys who have big alienware laptops - the battery lasts about 20 minutes, and they're too heavy to carry. They REALLY don't work well.

Well, they were right to move to aluminum on the MacBook. I've messed up the deck of my year-old MacBook twice because of the weak plastic.

I got a $2100 Dell Inspiron Laptop for $1250 because of a $750 coupon being offered.

I am exceedingly happy with my purchase and have never had a single problem. On the other hand, I know many Mac users who have had their mac's crash and had to be sent back, had battery issues, and etc...

This is not to say that PC's don't go through the same problems, but with proper care, a PC is just as good as anything else. And it is definitely cheaper too, that's for sure.

With a good eye, you can get some excellent deals, such as I did.

It looks nice. But I don't see anything super special about it, to be honest. Especially considering the price.

Battery life. I have had mine last over 8 hours on a single charge. Great for students.
