Double Bass arching height question

I'd be interested to compare the arching templates he drew for the "Amati" with the templates he has drawn for the Palotta (or the Tarr) to see if he really has just made them up, or if there is a significant difference between the basses. How could we do that?

I'm assuming that he didn't just make them up, but I'm not sure how he gets everything to 40-45mm without messing with the arching

if you can import the pdf into your cad program vectorize and then scale in one axis while leaving the others alone you can adjust the arching smothely up or down to match the wood.

if you have a plotter it makes great paper patterns, glur to the wood and cut it out and instant templates.

I used the large format copier at Kinkos. That's exactly what I did to make my templates. Spray adhesive onto the backing of the plexiglass and stick the copy on. Worked great.

Yes I am. Although I traveled so much the last couple years that I'm staying home this year to work on my house and build a bass. I miss hanging with the guys, but it's nice to slow down for a bit. -don
