yeah, nothing on stage but them and the drum kit now. i didn't even see monitors (guessing all IEM)
Not exactly the same situation, but-
I was using a Line 6 Wireless receiver into an Ampeg 450. It had a Digitech Drop pedal in the effects loop. The singer, being helpful, plugged my stage line into the XLR out of the Wireless receiver instead of the one in my amp.
When I hit the pedal switch in the amp loop for a set of songs in drop D, I got both the direct signal going into the FOH from the wireless, and the dropped signal out of my amp.
You can imagine how that worked.
I do, except for a Digitech Drop pedal. Which, by the way led to a disastrous incident recounted elsewhere in this thread.

Pretty accurate lol. I'm in chicago land but running a bunch of pricey in ear monitor and rack gear paired with each members pedal boards and we are playing symphonic black metal. We have a rack that has all of our stuff for iems,backing tracks, stage snakes, and wireless gear ect. that we both rehearse with and play live and we also have a similar setup thats in our studio for tracking or rehearsing there as well.
I generally point my rig towards the drummer a bit. Unless my rig is carrying the house.

In a number of rooms we've been able to use DSP at the board to adjust so that the PA and the backline align properly. Technology can be a wonderful thing when applied well.
From the point of view of having to lug gear I'd be happy to go ampless. (In fact I did on my first gig, although that was unintentionally also monitorless in terms of my performance). I have IEMs, but have yet to use them as I am concerned about getting feedback through them at some point, as not everyone necessarily wants to use IEMs, so there are still monitors and other sources to potentially induce feedback. For my own PA I've bought a feedback suppressor. There's also the concern that they might be a bit bass light in practice. Some day...
I've gone ampless for jam sessions, but with guitars, bass, keys, etc going just through a PA, it's possible for individual instruments to get a bit lost when jamming. Less of an issue for a practiced performance, though.

Yep, Yamaha TRBX605FM to be exact. Was pleasantly surprised by how good it sounded and felt, especially considering it's $650 new, and I don't even care that much for 5's.
I turn them all off sometimes, but where's the fun in not using pedals?
