Are Emg Jazz Hz pups a preampless Emg active pups

Hi everyone

I got given a set of Hz as a present but I really wanted a lm active set
So now I have these and I guess it's best to make use of them

If I use an outboard preamp like aggie TH would I get the same response as I would have with the active version of these?
They are, IMO, the same pup but passive.

Please help

Thanks

I don't think that can be the case. EMG active pickups are designed to generate relatively low magnetic field and signal strength such that they *must* have the integrated preamp to generate sufficient level for use. That choice has advantages, of course... By contrast, the HZ line generates normal signal levels which means greater magnetic field, windings etc.
