Are Fender P-Bass bent headstoc string(s) wonk?

***vent alert***

this oldie has it! and my player’s series (mim), has it too!

the estring leaves the nut on its way to its corresponding and respective tuner shaft at a not-so-straight bend as pictured.

is it make it more bad than a straight shot?

the nut, all of the sudden has lateral force :eek::eek::eek::eek:

number one solution? make it straight by way of redrilling? are the p basses that have this, sub-standard and we want to avoid? is it why the sadowsky kind of brands do it differently, or the same to match the righteousest oficial fender’s way? edit add pic:

i picture the mim p i got and since it has the nut-bend e, it’s my first p and im coming to be irked whichfeels the big problem) by the bend upto thinking it is a mim mistake and still passed QC (because it’s a mim and i thought they thought it was ok to have such misalignment to the tuners from factory line), which maybe thought was why price is lower..

i wish they didn’t do this. i might have the pegs re-drilld if not perhaps a string-set with enough taper or even exposed core at the peg end, but what’re the chances of finding a string to that i like that and that fixes the problem both in my satisfaction of the image in my mind about my treasured p bass and about it’s structure design.

how do i change feelings about it’s quality from the standpoint of a architect?

Mexican Fender QC is almost always great. Stop the completely unjustified hate on Mexican instruments.

Return it and build your own bass if it's that big of a problem. Fender had been making Precisions like this for 61 years and it's been working fine for them.

now there is some hate from you to me? im sorry you felt bad like that.

in reply; it’s not hateful for me to have had an idea about mexibasses. i really thought it was bad before like in the 90’s with cheap components and simpler looks, and les expensive labor, and i was first finding out about electric guitars and basses as a 14 year old. alas. my ideas have changed as i’ve grownup and as i understand economics, as has global economics advanced. (i dont want political discussion. because that’s against the rules of tb).

i am justified by my firsthand experience my own thought, and have literally come advanced as far as getting a mexico stamp bass with my own money. just asking if that’s more of the info you need?:)

that’s actually quite brilliant an idea!

i do like jazz necks. and tbh, the primary reason i got this monstrosity (jk) is because of its polyester finish (unlike usa basses). i prefer this body finish. (meaning to say, a neck switch might be the light at the end of tunnel type deal on p nexk for me

Checked mine on a pic I found. Not really a good pic, but you see that the Spector in the back has it slightly, but both Fenders (1977 USA P-bass, JB, unknown) don't have it.
