Are most pickups in the market usually longer?

I've been looking ard brands which r not the usual (eg. Aguilar, nordstrand etc....) And notice all (if not most) are at around 4" while my bass uses 3.7", kind of hard to find 1 tht's suitable

FYI here are typical J dimensions. In many but not all cases the neck is slightly smaller due to strings not being parallel.

There are 4 lengths of J pickups that are commonly found, For a 4 string the neck is usually 3 5/8ths, and the bridge about 3 3/4". Some 5 string pickups are made at the 3 3/4" length, and there are some that are about 4" and about 4.1"

For a 5 with common 4 string width you may need to ask for that special. Or use a rail type pickup. Honestly the magnet poles don't have to align but it would probably drive me nuts too.
