Are my Celestions broken???

Hello everyone,
I've finally got my dream set up.

Selmer Treble n bass mk iii 50

Selmer AP 50 cab 2x12 celestion 30watt speakers

and a hofner clubman.

I only just got my Selmer AP back to the house and plugged it in and it's quite alot quieter than i expected???

I cant turn it past the second dot and as soon as the bass is turned past half it makes a horrible wobbly noise from the speakers.

I've taken the back off the cab to see if both the speakers are working as far as i can see, and they seem to be.

Have they been blown?

Is the head to powerful??

Any help will be hugely appreciated!!

Any reason you thought 30 watt guitar speakers would handle a bass guitar?

Yep. They're doing what guitar speakers do...complain when you fill them with bass.

Had the Selmer serviced? They are pretty bitey amps, should be happy into 4x12 or two 2x12s, but asking a bit much of two vintage speakers, those big cabs were big for a reason.

I was lead to believe it was a bass cab as a previous owner had written 'Used for bass in the antibodies 1978' Aslong as its not broken i can sell it on, thank god for that!!
