Are the cab simulator pedals any good?

Hi Talkbass!

For my home setup, I'm using an Ampeg PF-20T into my soundcard, and mostly I practice with headphones. Sometimes I record using this setup.

Now this sounds pretty decent, but it is clear that it does not match my full stack from the rehearsal space. I'm wondering if maybe the lack of a cab is part of the issue here.

Then I came across some videos demonstrating cabinet simulators, which sounds intriguing. Does anyone have real world experience with any of these? E.g.

Any opinions on what works and what doesn't? Both for home use/recording and live to FoH.

Thanks!
