Are there still BOSS VF-1 users here?

I've been working at dialing in some patches and have been feeling the writer's block, so to speak. Was wondering if there were still some VF-1 users who had patches they'd be willing to share? I've been looking to get some good metal sounds lately, thrash, death metal -- I'm really digging the Swedish scene.

Presets like "clean heads" and "std bass" are actually decent on the VF-1, but I'm looking for something else now. Anyone have any tips in general that have worked out well?

I use a VF-1 as my sole effects unit- it’s great and has a wider variety of tones than most units, but a lot of people are dissuaded by the fact that it takes a while to pick out each parameter of every effect. Stick players seem to still love it though. I’ll try to get up some specific patches when I get a chance.

thanks for the reply. i agree that the unit can be a little overwhelming for tweaking parameters, but i definitely find the unit too versatile and efficient in size to disregard. like everything else, the more one uses it, the easier and more familiar it becomes.

i can edit a bass multi patch quite rapidly by now, and generally, when i turn the unit on, i automatically page through to the master level in global settings, so that the main knob acts as volume adjustment on the fly.

it's such a great unit -- i just seem to be running against a wall trying to find an edgier bass sound that doesn't sound like cheese -- i.e. "rock cs pick" patch and the like.

i'm all about the ampeg simulation on the bass multi, as i am running the pre into a qsc for clean power, and otherwise, the only disappointments i have found thus far, is that the compressor in the bass multi isn't the greatest, and that i cannot adjust the algorithm to place the compressor and eq opposite each other, rather i can only reposition the amp. but, even that feature is better than expected.

i'm gathering that the real key for me is going to be fine tuning of the eq and whether to place the four band pre or post amp sim. my real problem at the moment is that i cannot turn up loud enough for home practice, and so it has become difficult to get a good vibe as to whether or not i am in the ballpark with what i'm programming.
