Can I go from a mixer to the Art Tube Pac to a power amp? can it handle the signal from a mixer or is it too hot?

Bass > TubePac
TubePac XLR > Mixer > FOH
TubePac 1/4 > Bass Amp/monitor
Is the more conventional hook up.
Don't need the TubePac in the circuit as you asked. Both the TubePac and mixer are pre-amps so would be redundant. Going from the TubePac or the mixer to the power amp would be basically the same thing. If you only have one power amp and need to mix it all up, follow conventional hookup and use the TubePac as a DI into the mixer, then mixer to the power amp.

I dig. I want to use the compressor as the mixer I have doesn't have one. This is not strictly for bass.

Got it,
It can handle - adjust level out at mixer and input of the TubePac to taste within the meters range. Mixers tend to be multiple channel where the tube pac is mono so may just want to pick up a compressor. Alesis 3630 are dual channel and cheap - if you like the TubePac the Pro VLA is a sweet dual channel made by ART.
