I just purchased an Asdown ABM EVO III 900 with a ABM 810 cab. I just recieved it today. I have an active bass and noticed that when I play "active" into the "active" input I have to really crank the input gain and the output volume to get it loud at all. When I play "passive" into the "passive" input, it seems normal as far as the volume level is concerned. Quite louder than in active mode. Is this something to do with this head? My bass should be working fine as it plays normal through my carvin stack.

i believe the "active" input is just a db pad so that you dont overdrive the preamp too easily with an especially hot pickup..... i use and active bass on my ashdown evoII and never engage the "active" button and its SUHWEET!!!!... also, if i do put the active on, i experience somewhat the same thing.... it may be that youre active bass doesnt run as "hot" as some.... i wouldnt worry unless the its quite extreme.
^^ WOW!!! I play with both the Input and Output and 12 noon, and have almost ALWAYS been loud enough for a heavy noisy LOUD doomy punk band... that is surprising.
I'll have to try it with my active bass into the passive input and see how that works. Do I have to be worried about overdriving my cab? The ABM 900 is a 575+575w so technicial i am only feeding my 1200w ABM 810 with 575w right? so is there a danger of underpowering or burning somthing up?
active inputs are of the devil. they're simply padded inputs.
just use the passive input and your ear. if you're overdriving the preamp, you'll know. unless you're deaf and just keep cranking up the volume, you won't hurt your cabinet. use common sense.

You can't bridge the ABM 900 IIRC. Your 4ohm 810 will get 575 watts. You could drive two 810's with both power sections. DO NOT connect four cabinets to this thing unless they are all 8ohm cabinets! DO NOT connect two 4ohm cabinets to the same power section!
It's a stereo amp with a mono input...which is kind of stupid if you ask me. Trace Elliot does the same thing.
