Which MiBass? 220, 550, 2.0? I had one of the 2.0 and it never had an issue. I've also owned other Ashdown products and they've been reliable. Now, I am aware of some people ordering their heavily discounted MiBass 2.0 from a specific source and having issues with them. Mine, which came from a totally different source, worked just fine. Even if we are talking about the MiBass, would the fact that an amp that Ashdown doesn't produce any longer give justification for the reputation of their entire lineup to be called unreliable?

Yeah, you are of course right. Logical or not, widespread failure on one product is enough for me to be weary.

LOL! Was it even that? Look, some people experienced some failures. I didn't but some did. Premier Guitar had a video review of the 2.0 on Youtube and the person in the video stated that there was a "problem" running the 2.0 with a 4 ohm load. I ran mine the entire time I had it with a 4 ohm load. Wasn't a problem for me. Nothing widespread or below acceptable with my experiences. The 2.0 lacked some features that I would have liked, was a little under powered in my opinion but was a sweet sounding little amp.

Did you ever own the amp you are talking about or just passing on what you have heard from others? Any failures would be below acceptable to me but failures happen with some of the best manufacturers out there. Ampeg, Markbass, GK, Hartke.... I have heard issues about them all that were related to specific models.

Here is the way I see it. When there are many people coming forward in our little TB corner of the internet, there is the same in the real world. Did they not test their amp by running it at 4 ohms?

Ampeg turned out garbage with a huge number of PF500's and 7Pro's (I think that was the one).
Huge failure numbers reported here but we have no way of knowing how many were produced.
So they released a couple amps way too early without enough Beta testing.
Doesn't make them a bad company.
Irresponsible, poorly managed, undercapitalized, greedy share holders, stupidity?
Yeah it could be one or more of these.

My MiBass 2.0 ran at 4 ohms the entire time that I had it! Not one problem. I guess that they tested mine.... :D

Also you just can't assume that it was the same in the real world. Most if not all of the people that I saw report problems here each got their amps from the same source at a significant discount. I'm not saying that there was an issue with the source or the batch that the source had. I don't have enough information to make that sort of statement. I do know that I had no issues with mine.

I own and use the MiBass 2.0 I bought last time they were on sale at the bass place. The first unit I got kept cutting in and out using an Acme Low B2 4 ohm. It was fine with 2 8 ohm cabinets - which is in theory same load of 4 ohm. I had it replaced under warranty, and the new unit works fine. However, every once in a while I would sens something is "off". The volume would drop or it will cut out for a second. I don't think it's an issue of quality control, but rather design issues that cause it to fail under certain conditions.

I used mine with a cab on each output or with two Daisy chained cabs on one output. Never had a problem. It was a cool amp but not enough for my needs.

I received my head and excited to use it tonight at practice. But I am annoyed...the Ashdown description says, "Via the App-Tek socket players can access the ever-growing range of amp sim and effects apps available on Smartphones and devices, unlocking a huge expanding range of sounds."

Now I come to find out it only works with Apple phones! Why couldn't they say that? If it sounds good I'll probably keep it but I am definitely annoyed as an Android user to find this out NOW.

Thanks. It looks like they changed the name from the marketing jumbo to AmpKit instead of AmpTek? I searched the Android store (Google Play) and there is nothing with either name. I supposed I could only use it via PC and connect the amp to my PC? What a PIA that would be. I know its not your problem, just venting.

Without having received mine (supposed to arrive Thursday), my understanding is App-Tek is Ashdown and allows you to run AmpKit through it.
I have an iPhone and an iPad, so I should be all set. For me, unless it sounds really great, it probably won't see much use; I bought it to play around with. I mostly gig with my tube Ampegs, plus I have lots of other amps.
