Ashdown Head of Doom vs Tech 21 vt bass 1000

The title says it all ! These two heads look very interesting but I wonder if the tone they provide is suitable for someone who looks for a fat, bold, warm, with girth and dirt tone a la Newsted, Butler, Burton...I played some class D amps like Phil Jones and EBS and realized their modern tone is not my cup of tea, I don't like cold, sterile, anemic and too clean tones. I think the HOD and VT basd 1000 are interesting for some vintage rock sounds with Ampeg flavor ?? What do you guys think ? Any owners of the two amps above ?

There are very few of us that have actually tried out these amp heads. It's also very likely that most of us in the USA will NEVER see these heads in action. In your area, I have no idea if you would be able to get them.

You might be better served getting a clean bass head and coupling it with a preamp pedal of some sort. This way you can add whatever tone flavor you are looking for. This gives you more options in the future and you will not be stuck with a heavily colored amp head. Unless you want to be.
