Ashdown Mag 300?

I just bought a Yorkville XC410 cab that can take 600 watts, i'm looking at this Ashdown Mag 300 R amp for it for $200. The amp looks good and the specs do too, but I haven't found any thorough reviews for it. This one is not the new Evo II but the guy said it's basically the same amp. On the other hand I could also get a Hartke 7000 for $75 more, but if I understand correctly, you can only use 350 amps per cab? Which is a better amp or a better deal? I'm not very knowledgeable on bass amps yet so any help would be appreciated.

I agree, I've had my MAG300 for a few years now and it has always delivered. I compare my sound to a lot of others' when I gig and definately think the Ashdown takes the cake. I get a lot of questions from people who like how it sounds. The tones you get out of it are closer to a tube amp than many other solid state amps, particularly in that price range.

For that money it's a solid bet. I'll continue to use mine until I can afford an Orange ;)

I had a MAG myself, but always found it to be underpowered and never getting much out of the matching MAG 4x10 I used. Having said that the sub octave effect that is built in really does give the tone of this head some guts even at lower levels

i have the Ashdown Mag 300 and it is very nice. I also owned a Behringer B4500H a couple of years ago and it is basically the same head! The Behringer is more wattage and personally i think it may sound better than the Ashdown, AND the Behringer is cheaper! The features on the heads are the exact same, maybe labelled a little different or called something else.

If i was given the choice between the the 2 I would pick the Behringer hands down just for the tone. Just my two cents...

Hey bro, I know that 5 years have been passed since your post, but I am looking for an bass amp, and I have the choice to choose between a behringer bx4500h new and ashdown mag 300 used. 5 years latter, would you still recommend the Behringer bx4500h (it´s a head that I recorded and album like 10 years ago and I really like the tones I've got, but never deal with it for a reasonable period of time)
