Ashdown VU meter

Hey i have recently brought an Ashdown EVO II combo however to get the bar to hit 0 on my music man stingray i have to turn the imput up pritty much to full, and for my passive jazz bass in passive mode evan with the imput up too full its not peaking.
Any one have any ideas as to why this may be or is it normal??
Thanks

I also have this issue with my ashdown vu meter. I have a yamaha bb614 which is active,i suspected my battery but then i noticed that the input level changes depending on what tonal settings i use.I spoke to ashdown about this and they told me it's not a problem with the amp, just that all basses have different output levels.
I did not like the idea of turning the input gain up full so i just make do with half scale on the meter and have the master volume higher.
If there was no vu meter you would not even be worried so i kind of just ignore it now as i am happy with the sound.

Hi
I have 300 EVOII Head
I set the input at about 2 OC. The VU goes way up in to the red when I play a hard open E. the rest of the time it's between 10/1.
Allot depends on how you set the EQ.

Pretty much my experience as well (RPM 1 preamp). The VU meter is almost "on or off" in its deflection range.
As others have mentioned - ignore it and use your ears.
