Greetings TB'ers,

For sale is my pristine, near-mint Atelier Z J Note 5s. Made in Japan. No dings/nicks/cracks/etc. Straight neck, minimal fretwear. Action is nice and low, with no buzz.

Sweet, clean, deep, incredibly versatile tone. Some dual-humbucker basses only sound like humbuckers, even with the neck pickup soloed. Not this beauty - can do P-thump with neck, J-burp with bridge, modern/hifi with both and everywhere in between. Full and even-toned all the way up the neck. Perfectly balanced with Gotoh Res-o-lite tuners.

Pickups: Front Bartolini 72BC5C-B, Rear Bartolini 72BC5C-T
Preamp: Bartolini NTMB with 3-band midrange selector switch.
Knobs: Vol/Vol (not blend), passive pull up at bridge volume
Body: Ash 2 piece
Neck: Maple/Rosewood 5 piece
Fingerboard: Maple
Finish: Gloss body, satin neck
Tuners: Gotoh GB-350 Res-o-lite
Bridge: ATELIER Z BB518
Scale: 34"
Frets: 24
Bridge Spacing: 18mm
About 9 pounds
Fantastic Optima Gold strings installed!!
Decent (unbranded) gig bag

A truly boutique playing and sounding Japanese bass, priced like an Asian assembly-line one. Ridiculous value. I'd love to keep all the things, but got my eye on something else so...

$1400 PPF&F plus shipping CONUS. Local meetup within DC driving distance highly encouraged.

Thanks for looking!

Holy cow! I've been looking to see if anyone had one of the things, super curious about what you think of them. I have Beta-4 custom myself.

It's tremendous. Could easily be a one-and-done kind of bass for its quality and versatility. Sounds and plays as well (or better) than instruments I've had at twice the price. Like I said, just have a fickle eye on something else special and need the $.
Here's an idea of what they sound like, though video shows a 35" and mine's 34" so a little fuller on the higher strings. Still has a killer B string.

That's so funny, Miki Gakki is really the only place I can see/hear these guitars. I love their glassy sound, I heard they play/sound much like a MTD-535.
