Audacity: How Do I mix down in stereo?

I have a recording of a 35min file. Each instrument has its own wave file. I cant figure out how to highlight just one song so that I can mix it down.

Also I tried to just mix the whole thing down into an MP3 but audacity wont let me do it in stereo.

Suggestions?

try ctrl+p
then under "Audio I/0" go to channels and and set it to "2 (Stereo)". Then you will be recording in stereo.

Also, when you create a new track make sure you're creating a "stereo" one, not just a "audio" one.

I hoped that helped and that I'm not completely misunderstanding your problem.

Thanks Bro. I'll definitely try your stereo suggestions. These tracks have already been recorded from an outside source. I think maybe I'll try putting one on the left side and then double it on the right. Perhaps that might give me stereo.

The other problem I found a solution for by just making two more wave files and mixing those two together.

Audacity mixing down into stereo:
I had two tracks, recorded in another program as left and right, and thought these would export from Audacity as a stereo track. However, they came up with the same thing - export as mono track only. When I looked back more carefully at the tracks, I realised they both said "Mono" on the track information panel on the left-hand side. There is a drop-down menu by the track title at the top of the information panel. This menu includes the options of mono, left and right channels. By making one left and the other right, I was then able to Export in stereo.
